Où? Rue ACFA, (Parc du centre récréatif)
Cette année, l’événement reprend son envergure provinciale. Comme l’année
dernière, plusieurs communautés francophones à travers la province vont
marquer le coup d’envoi des Rendez-vous de la francophonie en célébrant
au même moment. La programmation de l’événement comprend des discours de
dignitaires ainsi que le lever du drapeau franco-albertain en vue de souligner
la contribution passée et actuelle d’une société francophone ancrée partout
en Alberta, notamment à Red Deer. Le 5 mars 2010, le ciel albertain sera
bleu, blanc, rose. J’y serai, et vous?
Exposition bilingue « L’empreinte francophone »
Où? La mezzanine de la Red Deer Public Library
L’ACFA (Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta) vous présente un
aperçu de l’histoire de la communauté francophone en Alberta. Cette exposition
a pour but de donner de la visibilité à une communauté qui s’est longtemps
battue pour ses droits, mais qui est toujours vibrante et dynamique! Nous
cherchons à présenter certains événements clés de l’histoire francophone
de l’Alberta et de personnes qui ont contribué à la création de ce qu’est
aujourd’hui devenue la francophonie albertaine.
Il aurait été impossible de mentionner toutes les étapes et personnes qui
ont fait de cette communauté ce qu’elle est, mais nous espérons que vous
apprécierez le double mandat donné à cette exposition : informer tout en
divertissant.
Déjeuner du samedi
Où? Tente de concerts Majestic Tent & Event, sur la rue DBA (Parc
du centre récréatif)
Venez déjeuner en plein air au Carnaval de Red Deer, entre 7h et 9h, samedi
le 6 mars. Au menu : crêpes, saucisses et œufs brouillé et animation
folklorique avec les Productions Éfémèr.

Où? Parc du Centre Récréatif
Productions Éfémèr
Le groupe de Productions Éfémèr est composé de deux danseurs et animateurs
expérimenté. Ils vous proposent des séries d’animations et de spectacles
folkloriques. Au programme lors du Carnaval de Red Deer : danses tournante,
chansons traditionnelles, jeux de cuillères de bois et spectacles de gigue
et de gumboots.
Flying Colors
Flying Colors est un groupe local de la région de Red Deer. Composé de
5 musiciens, dont un saxophoniste, le groupe offre un combo musical de
blues et de rock, pour faire danser et chanter. À ne pas manquer!
Le Fuzz
Le Fuzz, un groupe dynamique de 5 musiciens venant de la région d’Edmonton,
présente sa musique imprégnée de diversité culturelle. Mélangez le romantisme
français, l’aventurisme canadien et l’espièglerie tzigane, et vous obtiendrez
le spectacle Vie La Vida! Le Fuzz vous invite
à un voyage en musique, énergisant et éducatif, autour du monde, pour vous
faire rire et danser.
Brian McArthur
Brian est un artiste de studio à plein temps. Depuis les 15 dernières
années, il se concentre dans l'exploration artistique sur l'histoire du
Canada et d'identité. Sa passion pour l'histoire du Canada est exprimée
à travers son travail en sculpture de céramique. Toutefois, au cours du
Carnaval de Red Deer, Brian effectuera de la sculpture sur neige.

5. L'Effigie
L’accès au site est gratuit, cependant, la participation aux activités
requière une effigie. Cette effigie, en vente au prix de 5$, est disponible
au bureau de l’ACFA (4930-B, Ross Street), chez Safeway ainsi qu’aux
kiosques d’informations présents sur le site du Carnaval.

Franco-Albertan Flag Raising
Where? ACFA Street (Recreation Centre Park)
As of last year this event takes place province wide. Most francophone
communities across the province have chosen to coordinate the launch of Les
Rendez-vous de la francophonie (National French Canadian Heritage
Week) at the same time. The event program includes special guest speakers
and the raising of the Franco-Albertan flag. The aim is to recognize past
and present contributions of a vibrant French speaking society, especially
here in Red Deer. March 5th the Albertan sky will be blue, white and pink.

Bilingual Exhibit « The Francophone Imprint »
Where? Red Deer Public Library
The French Canadian Association of Alberta presents an exhibit that
describes the history of the Francophone community of Alberta. For a long
time now, this community has fought for its rights and today it is vibrant,
dynamic and diverse! The goal of this research is therefore to heighten
the community’s visibility. We wish to offer a Francophone perspective
on certain key events and people who have contributed to the creation of
what is now known as the Alberta Francophonie. It would have been impossible
to name every event and person involved in the making of what this community
is today, but we hope that you will appreciate the francophone Imprint’s
double mandate: to inform, as well as to entertain.
The Saturday Breakfast
Where? The Majestic Tent & Event Tent, on the DBA Street (Recreation
Centre Park)
Come and join us for breakfast at the Red Deer Carnaval, between 7am and
9am, Saturday March 6th. On the menu: pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs
and folkloric entertainment with the Productions Éfémèr.

Where? Recreation Centre Park
Productions Éfémèr
The group Productions Éfémèr consists of two experienced dancers and entertainers.
They offer a series of folkloric entertainment and performances. The program
for the Red Deer Carnaval: rotating dances, traditional songs, games and
wooden spoons shows jitter and gumboots.
Flying Colors
Flying Colors is a local group from the Red Deer area. Consisting of 5
musicians, including a saxophonist, the group provides a musical combo
of blues and rock, to make you dance and sing. Not to be missed!
Le Fuzz
Le Fuzz is a dynamic five piece band from Edmonton Alberta that performs
music steeped in cultural diversity. ‘Vie La Vida! ‘ is
a fruitful blend of French romanticism, Canadian adventurism, and global
gypsy mischief. Le Fuzz invites you on an energetic educational global
music journey destined to make you laugh and dance.
Brian McArthur
Brian is a full time studio artist who’s artistic exploration for the
past 15 years has been on Canada’s history and identity. His passion for
the history and the story of Canada is expressed through his sculptural
ceramic work; however, during the Red Deer Carnaval, Brian will be snow
sculpturing.
