1. Historique

L’idée du Carnaval de Red Deer nous est venue il y a quelques années. En mars 2008, l’école secondaire Lyndsay Thurber de Red Deer a accueilli une journée carnavalesque. En effet, l’ACFA Régionale de Red Deer, en collaboration avec le conseil scolaire Centre-Nord (école La Prairie), le Red Deer Public School District et les Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools ont organisé une journée complète d’activité, incluant le lever du drapeau franco-albertain. Suite à cet événement, la communauté a soulevé l’intérêt pour un tel carnaval, accessible au public. Le Carnaval de Red Deer est né.

2. La vision

Le Carnaval de Red Deer désire faire reconnaître les francophones comme une communauté vibrante dans la région de Red Deer.

3. La mission

Promouvoir la joie de vivre francophone en offrant des événements d’amusement, des arts et de la culture durant les deux semaines de la francophonie.

4. Les objectifs

Promouvoir l’histoire et la culture de la communauté francophone en Alberta.
Offrir à la population un événement hivernal qui grandira au fil des années, pour en arriver à un carnaval international en 2013.
Dynamiser le centre ville et ses commerces.

5. L’équipe

L’équipe du Carnaval de Red Deer se compose de l’équipe de l’ACFA Régionale de Red Deer, des nombreux bénévoles impliqués (en grande partie de l’école secondaire Lindsay Thurber et du Red Deer College) ainsi qu’un grand nombre participants de la communauté de Red Deer.

The idea for the Red Deer Carnaval has been a long time in the making. In March 2008, the Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School, in Red Deer, hosted a carnaval day. The Regional ACFA of Red Deer, in collaboration with the Greater North Central School Board, the Red Deer Public School District and the Red Deer Catholic Regional Division organized a full day of activities, including the Franco-Albertan flag raising. Following this event, the community has continued to show an interest in such a carnival but open to the public and it is from this that the Red Deer Carnaval was born.

2. The vision

The Red Deer Carnaval wishes to acknowledge the French people as a vibrant community in the Red Deer area.

3. The mission

To promote francophone love of life through a winter festival offering games, arts and culture during the two international francophone weeks.

4. The objectives

Promote Alberta’s French community, history and culture.
Offer entertainment to the people of Red Deer and area during the winter period, that will grow through the years to eventually become known internationally.
Energize downtown and its businesses.

5. The team

The Red Deer Carnaval team consists of the ACFA of Red Deer, the many volunteers involved (mainly from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School and the Red Deer College) and numerous Red Deer community participants.
